Beyblade X: Xone — A New Spin on the Classic Franchise

The Beyblade franchise has captivated audiences for over two decades and it continues to evolve with the release of Beyblade X: Xone. This latest instalment marks the first Beyblade title to reach Western audiences since Beyblade: Evolution over a decade ago. Available on Nintendo Switch and PC, Beyblade X: Xone introduces players to the fourth generation of Beyblades, known as Beyblade X.

Though the game is available on Steam, it’s not yet available in India.

Storyline and Characters

Beyblade X: Xone offers a fresh narrative centred around a new protagonist, Sheer, who enters a Beyblade competition using the Knife Shinobi 4-60LF inherited from their father. The storyline unfolds with upbeat and comedic moments, reminiscent of the show’s spirit, and features visual novel-style cutscenes that improve the storytelling experience. The game does introduce new characters but also includes familiar faces such as Multi-Nana-Iro, Jian Strong, and Robin, providing Easter eggs for long-time fans.

You don’t need to watch Beyblade X to play Xone.

Gameplay Mechanics

The game introduces players to Beyblade battles through a basic tutorial, though some players have noted that the English translation could be improved for clarity. Once familiar with the mechanics, players can engage in strategic battles where the objective is to outlast the opponent’s Beyblade. The battles are dynamic, with Beyblades moving automatically and taking damage upon collision.

Each Beyblade has two health bars: the spin gauge, representing how long the Beyblade can spin, and the burst gauge, which depletes when the Beyblade takes damage. Strategic launches and attacks are essential to deplete the opponent’s gauges and secure victory.

Beyblade Customization

You can customize your Beyblades to suit your preferred playstyle. You will be getting components by defeating opponents. Using these, you can personalise and make some strategic adjustments. The game offers six slots for customized Beyblades, meaning you have plenty of scope to experiment with different combinations and tactics.

Generally speaking, Beyblade X: Xone has been praised for its storyline and faithful representation of the Beyblade universe. However, some players have noted that the game does not introduce revolutionary changes to the franchise. The gameplay, while enjoyable, may not persuade casual fans to delve deeper into the series. Additionally, the English translation of the tutorial could benefit from improvements to enhance clarity for new players.

Beyblade X: Xone is available worldwide on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. The game is offered in both Japanese and English. Multiplayer matches are accessible through online play or local connections on the Switch, with offline modes exclusively available for single-player experiences.
